Health and Wellness Update: Activities Canceled and Determining School Closures

Throughout Spring Break, we will be working with our public health agencies regarding decisions on school closures and other responses related to the COVID-19 pandemic. We will inform our community by Thursday, March 19, if the return date for students or staff is later than March 23. Beginning Sunday, March 15, we are canceling all activities, events, and rentals of school facilities from outside organizations throughout the week of Spring Break. This includes, but is not limited to, practices and rehearsals for UIL activities, all special events, gatherings, performances and presentations, and meetings. The UIL is also suspending all UIL sanctioned contests effective March 16 through at least March 29.

Monitoring Continues: Classes to Continue as Scheduled

We want to assure you that Round Rock ISD classes will continue today as regularly scheduled. District administration is closely monitoring the situation and will notify parents of any changes to school operations occur. At this time, as you know, Round Rock ISD is scheduled to be closed for Spring Break after classes dismiss today. Students and staff are currently scheduled to return March 23.

Health and Wellness Update: Travel Restrictions

The health and wellbeing of our community, students and staff is our top priority and we want to be sure to keep you informed of our actions to protect against the risk of the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) on our campuses and our community. Round Rock ISD is closely monitoring reports and information shared by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and we are aware of today’s alert from the World Health Organization which has now designated COVID-19 as a pandemic.Due to this news and the evolving nature of the situation, we are suspending all district-sponsored out-of-state travel for students and staff and will evaluate all travel on a case-by-case basis when we return from Spring Break.

Sommer Elementary School Economics Fair

Third-grade Students at Sommer Elementary created and sold upcycled products as part of their Project Based Learning (PBL). They raised over $3,500 and donated it to the Round Rock Serving Center!

C.D. Fulkes and Ridgeview’s Read It Forward Campaign

C.D. Fulkes and Ridgeview middle schools joined forces to give students at both schools a shared reading experience during the “Read It Forward” campaign. The goal is for the two middle schools to have a shared experience when entering into Cedar Ridge High School as freshmen.

Monthly Board Meeting To Be Held February 28

Round Rock ISD’s Board of Trustees routinely meets on the third Thursday of every month for its regularly scheduled meeting. This month, however, the Board of Trustees had a scheduling conflict, so will meet on the fourth Thursday, February 28.
