MLK and Getting to the Middle

“Each of you, as an individual, must pick your own goals. Listen to others, but do not become a blind follower.” These are the words of the late Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, a contemporary of Dr. Martin Luther King (MLK). As we observe MLK Day in 2022, I find Justice Marshall’s words more salient now than they were when he was alive. In 2022, the need for diversity of thought and dialectical thinking will be of cardinal importance as we continue to move towards educational equity.

Westwood High School Competitive Drone Team Nabs Exemplary Team Award

The Westwood High School drone team received the exemplary team award and finished second place overall at the Austin Region Bell Vertical Robotics Competition. Westwood High School drone aviation instructor, Karina Kinsey, leads the students who compete as the Octawarriors.

In the Classroom: Cedar Valley Middle School

In this edition of In the Classroom, we visit an eighth-grade math classroom at Cedar Valley Middle School where Mr. Robert Kaltenbacher takes a different approach to learning with something he calls "elbow partners."
