Round Rock ISD COVID Update

We are encouraged by the news that the Round Rock-Austin area appears to be past the peak of the Omicron variant surge, according to news from Austin Public Health, and we are certainly experiencing improving conditions on our campuses. To help sustain this trend, our COVID protocols remain in place, including masks, social distancing when possible, enhanced air filtration, and closing classes if there are a significant number of epi-linked COVID cases. We will evaluate again on Feb. 18, whether to adjust protocols, including allowing visitors to return to campuses.

Kindergarten registration for 2022-2023 begins March 7

Online registration for Round Rock ISD families to enroll kindergarteners for the 2022-2023 school year opens on Monday, March 7. Round Rock ISD has 35 top-rated elementary schools that educate, support, and serve Central Texas students in Round Rock, portions of Cedar Park, and the City of Austin.

Athletic Program Spotlight: Round Rock High School Gymnastics

Round Rock High School is the only high school in the Central Texas area to offer students a competitive gymnastics program. There are 44 gymnasts on its 2021-2022 team roster. The team trains as a class during the school day, practices after-school, and travels the state, competing in meets against other Texas high school teams.

Robotics will debut in February at Anderson Mill, Berkman, Blackland Prairie, Bluebonnet, Brushy Creek, Callison, Canyon Creek, Caraway, Deep Wood, Double File Trail, England, Joe Lee Johnson, Jollyville, Laurel Mountain, Live Oak, Old Town, Pond Springs, Redbud, Robertson, Sommer, Spicewood, Teravista, Voigt and Wells Branch elementary schools.

Herrington Elementary named Coat for Kids, Coat Drive Champions

Round Rock ISD’s Herrington Elementary Spanish Language and Culture Institute has earned the distinction of being named the 2021 Coat for Kids, Coat Drive Champions. United in their cause to provide new and gently worn warm coats and jackets for Central Texas children in need, collectively, the campus community secured over 300 coats to donate to Coats for Kids during a 15-day campaign.

F4 Racing comes to Deerpark

Ryan Shehan, a 16-year old F4 racing professional, visited Deerpark Middle School recently to share with students what it takes to achieve your goals. Deerpark Principal John Manning expressed the importance of setting students up for success and was excited to have a speaker closer to the student’s age to show them anything is possible if you set your mind to it.

Student entrepreneurs at Stony Point High School startup small businesses

Stony Point High School’s entrepreneur class is a hands-on experiential learning course that provides students with immersive knowledge in developing a sustainable business. Students must prepare a small business plan, product prototypes, raise seed money, and put their plan into action by producing and marketing their product.
