Round Rock High School is the only high school in the Central Texas area to offer students a competitive gymnastics program. There are 44 gymnasts on its 2021-2022 team roster. The team trains as a class during the school day, practices after-school, and travels the state, competing in meets against other Texas high school teams.

“Our athletes train hard and show a deep level of commitment to their team and teammates,” said Christopher Muenz, Round Rock High School gymnastics coach.

Women gymnasts train and compete in uneven parallel bars, vault, floor exercise, and balance beam events. Men gymnasts train and compete in parallel bars, rings, vault, floor exercise, high bar, and pommel horse events.

For the 2020-2021 season, the women finished fifth, and the men took seventh out of 24 teams in the state, with three gymnasts placing in the top 10 for their events. The team was State Champions in 1994 and 1995. Over three decades, they have consistently earned numerous District, Regional, and individual gymnastic championship titles.

Students interested in being a part of the Dragon gymnastics team must attend Round Rock High School. Team tryouts are in March. Students residing in the Round Rock school district zoned to another District high school should request a transfer to Round Rock High School for the gymnastics program after receiving an offer to join the team. New students who are returning to or have not attended a Round Rock ISD school need to enroll online and complete a transfer request form.
