Round Rock ISD trustees call for $998 million bond

Round Rock ISD trustees Thursday night called for a $998 million bond election to provide upgrades and address needs throughout the district. This is the district’s first bond in six years and would allow the district to replace instructional technology, HVAC, and other systems that are nearing the end of their useful lives. 

Stony Point High School NJROTC Advances

The Stony Point High School Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps competed at state during the Winter Break for a chance to advance to the National Finals. Students share what makes them proud to be part of JROTC and their hopes for the future of the corps.

Meet the newest barn members

As the school year ramps up, the Stony High School Agriculture (AG) Department has been hard at work this summer welcoming new animals to the barn. The Ag students spend all year cleaning, grooming and caring for animals as they prepare to show them off at livestock events throughout Texas.

Ebony Parks has been named principal of Hernandez Middle School

Parks has served as a middle school principal in a neighboring school district for two years and as associate principal for four years. In 2020, she was named Region XIII Assistant Principal of the Year. Parks has served as an English Language Learning Coach and middle school Pre-AP ELA teacher, where she planned curriculum and engaged data to improve student outcomes. Before settling in Central Texas, she taught middle and high school English in Illinois, Nebraska, and Puerto Rico for six years.

Julie Carrera Named Principal of Herrington Elementary

Julie Carrera has been named the new principal of Herrington Elementary School. Carrera has served as the assistant principal of Herrington since 2014 and, during that time, led efforts to support new teachers and adjustments to campus’ processes aimed at improving student performance and addressing needs.

Loretta Garcia-Finder Named Principal of Robertson Elementary School

Loretta Garcia-Finder has been named the new principal of Robertson Elementary School. Garcia-Finder has served as the associate principal of Robertson since 2022 and, during that time, helped lead improvements in campus intervention procedures and streamline processes to address students’ academic and behavioral needs.
