The Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees approved a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) of $1,495,515 for Phase 1 of the McNeil Master Plan at its Jan. 21 regular meeting.

The first of three GMP awards for Phase 1 of the McNeil Master Plan, which is slated to begin construction during the summer, will fund the purchase of steel for agriculture science classrooms, the agriculture science barn, and the replacement of school bleachers.

The award went to Cadence McShane Construction Company, LLC. The McNeil Master Plan, totaling more than $28 million, was approved by voters during the 2014 Bond initiative.

“The priorities for Phase 1 of the McNeil Master Plan were set by the staff and the community,” Chief Operating Officer Bob Cervi said. “The summer construction will occur during downtime when animals will be gone. The barn will be started and finished before school begins in August.”

Future GMP approvals are scheduled for regular board meetings in March and May. The second GMP will fund agriculture science classrooms, interior renovations and the central plant. The third GMP will fund the performing arts and special education additions.

“We have passionate parents, staff and community members from McNeil who have asked for some much needed updates and additions to their campus,” Board President Paul J. Tisch said. “With voter approval in 2014, we are excited as a Board and a district to begin making some of these needed adjustments to support innovative teaching and learning, as well as the high expectations for service and appeal our community expects and deserves.”
