Round Rock ISD received the Certificate of Distinction from the Government Treasurers’ Organization of Texas (GTOT) for its investment policy recently.

The district earned this honor for its commitment to adopt a comprehensive written investment policy that meets the criteria set forth in the GTOT Investment Policy Review Checklist.

Indicators in this checklist include:

  • Policy Statement – having a policy statement that emphasizes the guiding principles of the investment program and conforms to all statutes, rules and regulations governing the investment of public funds
  • Capability of Investment Management – investment policy must address quality and capability of investment management
  • Investment Training – investment training is required for the treasurer, Chief Financial Officer and the investment officer of a local government

The GTOT is a state association which was formed in 1987. Its primary purpose is to promote the educational and professional development of people who perform the treasury function in governmental organizations and to play a key role in the enactment of legislation in the area of cash and debt management.

GTOT established this Investment Policy Certification Program to provide professional guidance in developing an investment policy and to recognize outstanding examples of written policies.

This distinction is effective until September 30, 2015.
