Summer counselors offer graduates guidance for higher education and jobs
Throughout the summer, Round Rock ISD high schools will provide the services of a dedicated "summer melt" counselor, who will assist recent graduates in navigating their path toward higher education, the workforce, or a combination of both.
Melanie Solis Named Principal of Spicewood Elementary School
Melanie Solis has been named the new principal of Spicewood Elementary School. She has served as the assistant principal of Caraway Elementary School since 2015 and before then supported student intervention and worked as a teacher at Pflugerville ISD.

Round Rock ISD has received nearly $31.2 million in grants thanks to The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. The money comes from the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER), which provides nearly $122 billion to school districts nationwide.

The Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Kevin Johnson as the new Trustee for Place 1 during a special called meeting on July 25. Johnson is the father of two students who attended and graduated from Stony Point High School and has extensive experience in education, serving as both a teacher and administrator.

Negrete has more than 20 years of experience in education. She is bilingual Spanish and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Texas at El Paso, and earned her Master’s degree in administration and supervision from the University of Phoenix in Santa Teresa.
