Exploring with digital microscopes

Thanks to a grant from the PIE Foundation, Voigt Elementary is exploring the world of tiny objects with the help of digital microscopes. Students are collecting items from outside and putting them under microscopes to see just how detailed the world can be.

Callison Elementary earned the Marzano High-Reliability Schools (HRS) Level Two certification

Callison Elementary School earned the Marzano High-Reliability Schools (HRS) Level Two certification for showcasing effective teaching in every classroom. The HRS program was created by Marzano Research to help transform schools into organizations that take proactive steps to ensure student success. Using a research-based five-level hierarchy, along with leading and lagging indicators, educators learn to assess, monitor, and confirm the effectiveness of their schools.

Laura Ihonvbere has been named principal of Callison Elementary

Laura Ihonvbere is the new principal of Callison Elementary School. Ihonvbere has served in a campus leadership role with Round Rock ISD at C.D. Fulkes Middle School, Cactus Ranch Elementary School, Wells Branch Elementary Arts Integration Academy, and Chandler Oaks Elementary School since 2010.

Penny Oates Named Principal of C.D. Fulkes Middle School

Penny Oates has been named the new principal of C.D. Fulkes Middle School. With 30 years of experience in education, Oates has most recently served Round Rock ISD as the principal of Callison Elementary School since 2019.

Blackland Prairie Teacher Named 2023 HEB Excellence In Education Award Finalist

Watch Blackland Prairie third-grade teacher Candi Tenbush get the surprise of the year! This week, she was named a finalist in the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards and received a prize of $1,000 in front of her class. Next, she will head to San Antonio to see if she takes home the main prize. If she wins, she and her campus will each receive a check for $25,000. Coyote Heart Project: Sending Love Across Central Texas

Spreading the love this week, Forest Creek Elementary students cut, sewed and stuffed fabric hearts filled with messages of hope to send to other Central Texas schools. The hope is to send a friendly message to others to say people are thinking of you and you are loved.

Cedar Ridge High School Dance Director Earns Top Honor

Cedar Ridge High School Dance Director Stevie McCall has been named the 2023 Dance Director of the Year by the Texas Dance Educators Association (TDEA). TDEA is a professional organization that allows dance educators the opportunity for staff development and networking. It provides professional development and works toward improving dance education, and helps teachers provide quality dance education throughout Texas.

C.D. Fulkes Middle School ribbon cutting

The newest school building in the District, C.D. Fulkes Middle School held a ribbon cutting on October 6, 2022 to celebrate the opening of the school this year. The campus is named after C.D. Fulkes, who served as the principal of Round Rock High School for 19 years. His legacy will live on in this new state-of-the-art building.
