Community Invited to be Superheroes for Mental Health at Hope Walks Here

Saturday, March 9 students, parents, and community members are invited to walk for and learn about mental health at the second annual Hope Walks Here walk. The two-mile Hope Walks Here walk will be held at Pearson Ranch Middle School, located at 8901 Pearson Ranch Rd. in Austin. Registration and a resource fair open at 9 a.m. with the walk set to begin at 10 a.m.

Success TAKS program gives second chance to earn diploma

Round Rock ISD alumni who have not fulfilled their TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills) test graduation requirements, which became state-mandated in 2002, are encouraged to attend an information session at Success High School and learn how to satisfy the requirement to receive their high school diploma.

If Round Rock ISD’s proposed Bond passes on Nov. 6., a new elementary school would be built in northeast Round Rock ISD to provide space for a growing student population and relieve crowding at Herrington. Elementary #35 would provide space for about 900 students and is budgeted to cost $48 million, which includes furnishings and technology.

Students learn, then earn with HVAC and Plumbing Certification

In a Round Rock ISD student survey, 68 percent of high school students indicate a skilled profession as a fulfilling career option. Students interested in skilled professional HVAC and plumbing careers are encouraged to register to earn their certification. After four months of hands-on instruction, students may be certified as an HVAC technician or Level 1 plumber.
