Larissa Ortiz has been named the new principal of Cedar Valley Middle School.
Ortiz has served as the principal of Caraway Elementary School since 2021. During that time, she has led initiatives to improve early literacy efforts and instruction on campus. She also worked to support campus culture and equity. Prior to her role at Caraway, she served as an assistant principal at Hernandez Middle School, Round Rock High School and Cedar Valley Middle School. She has almost 20 years of experience in education, 10 of those years as a classroom teacher.
She is also a graduate of the District’s Team One Program, designed to provide aspiring principals with professional development relevant to the principal role.
“I am excited and honored to serve the Cedar Valley Middle School Community as principal,” Ortiz said. “ I look forward to connecting with and getting to know the staff, students, and families and working with each stakeholder to ensure that our students have the best learning experience that focuses on high academic achievement standards while nurturing the whole child through social-emotional development of our students.”
