Watch Blackland Prairie third-grade teacher Candi Tenbush get the surprise of the year! This week, she was named a finalist in the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards and received a prize of $1,000 in front of her class. Next, she will head to San Antonio to see if she takes home the main prize. If she wins, she and her campus will each receive a check for $25,000. Amendments Approved for 2023-2024 Academic Calendar

e Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees approved amendments to the 2023-2024 academic calendar to support dual credit students and staff and the addition of built-in bad weather days. The first amendment moves Spring Break to March 11 through March 15 to align with the dates for Austin Community College (ACC).

Rishik Boddeti, a junior at Westwood High School, was inspired by his grandfather to create an app to help diagnose early-onset dementia. He hopes those using the app can get the help they need more quickly and plan for a better future.

Spirit Exchange Program: Creating Global Educational Experiences

The Spirit Exchange Program is new to Round Rock ISD this year. The program brings teachers from all over the world into the classroom across the District. Program participants can teach in the U.S. for up to three years before retiring to their home countries, all while interacting with their classroom back home during each school week.

Round Rock ISD PIE Foundation and Kalahari Recognize World Water Day with Waterpark Pass Fundraiser

The Round Rock ISD Partners in Education (PIE) Foundation has partnered with the Nelson Family Life Foundation to raise funds for their respective organizations. Through a water pass donation made possible by Kalahari Round Rock, 50 percent of every waterpark pass sale that takes place on March 22 will be shared equally between the PIE Foundation and the Nelson Family Life Foundation’s Water Colors Life Project in recognition of World Water Day.

Parents/guardians of eligible four-year-olds will have their first chance to register for Round Rock ISD’s 2023-2024 full-day prekindergarten program on Saturday, April 1. Pre-K early registration remains open through Monday, May 15.
