Dr. Mya Mercer has been named the Area Superintendent of the McNeil Learning Community.
Dr. Mercer has served as the Director of Staffing since 2016 and in her role worked to foster strong relationships with and provide leadership, support, and resolution strategies as needed to campus and department leadership. Before making the transition to District leadership, she led Old Town Elementary School as principal for five years and has almost a decade of experience in campus leadership. She has worked in education for over 20 years with seven of them serving students as a classroom teacher.
“I am both incredibly humbled and honored to be named Area Superintendent for the McNeil Learning Community,” Dr. Mercer said. “Great schools command great leaders guided by a coherent system of support. The area superintendent plays such an integral role within this support system. I am greatly looking forward to working collaboratively with the talented principals, staff, students and families of this great learning community in ways that aim to equitably move all our students to even higher levels of achievement.”
Dr. Mercer has a Doctorate’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Lubbock Christian University.
“Dr. Mercer is an advocate for all things public education with an excellent reputation for building strong relationships while leading others,” Senior Chief of Schools and Innovation Dr. Daniel Presley said. “There is no doubt she will continue to bring those qualities and more to the McNeil Learning Community.”
Area Superintendents of Round Rock ISD’s five Vertical Learning Communities serve under Dr. Presley.
