After an incredible fall tennis season that included winning their second state team champion title in the last three years, the Westwood High School tennis team brought home more gold during the Spring 2021 UIL State Tennis Tournament.
Westwood earned the top prizes in some of the most competitive events in the spring tournament, which focuses on individual categories rather than team performance.
Daniel Antov and Marko Mesarovic earned the title of Boys Doubles State Champions. In the Mixed Doubles category, Sachchit Sivaram and Kinaa Graham took home the gold and were named champions.
Individually, Jessica Lu placed third in the Girls Singles category and was named the recipient of the USTA Sportsmanship award for the State Tournament.
“I’m just so proud of these kids,” Westwood Tennis Coach Travis Dalrymple said.” They worked so hard this year, and when the pressure was the biggest, they played their best. They played such a high level of tennis and represented the school so well in true Warrior fashion. To win two gold medals in one year is unheard of, and these students did it!”
