Dear Round Rock ISD Parents, Guardians, Students and Staff members,

This past week has been one like no other in Round Rock and Austin. The winter storm brought hardship to many families and we are all still dealing with its impact. While conditions are certainly improving, we know many of our families and staff members may still be without power, internet or water service, or could be struggling to replenish their food supply. In Round Rock ISD, we are still assessing damage to campuses and facilities. Many were significantly impacted by water intrusion and many more remain without power. In addition, due to power outages, our food services department faces crucial shortages and many of our campuses are currently under a boil water notice from water providers.

Our maintenance teams are continuing to inspect facilities today and throughout the weekend and work to clean up and repair damage is already underway. Given all of these challenges, we will be making a decision by late Saturday on whether campus operations will be possible next week. We want to assure all of our students and staff that your safety is our top priority as we make these assessments. We anticipate receiving a waiver from the Texas Education Agency to avoid adding bad weather make-up days to the calendar.

We understand that this has been an overwhelming time and want to assure our students that grace and time will be given for assignments and tests as we resume classes. Students will have additional time on assignments due this week or next week and any tests scheduled for next week will be postponed to no earlier than Thursday, February 25.

Throughout this unpredictable, challenging school year, our community, staff members, students and parents have risen to the occasion time and again. You have demonstrated flexibility, grace and strength, and we appreciate your support and teamwork more than ever as we face these challenges together. Please be patient as we work through the weekend to make the best decisions possible for our students. We are committed to communicating decisions as soon as possible, as well as sharing important information about resources and support.

Evaluación de las operaciones del distrito del 22 al 26 de febrero

Estimados padres de familia, tutores, estudiantes y miembros del personal de Round Rock ISD:

Esta semana pasada ha sido sin precedentes en Round Rock y Austin. La tormenta invernal trajo dificultades a muchas familias y todavía estamos lidiando con su impacto. Si bien las condiciones ciertamente están mejorando, sabemos que muchas de nuestras familias y miembros del personal aún pueden estar sin electricidad, internet o servicio de agua, o podrían estar luchando para reponer su suministro de alimentos. En Round Rock ISD, todavía estamos evaluando los daños a los campus e instalaciones. Muchos se vieron afectados significativamente por inundaciones y muchos más permanecen sin electricidad. Además, debido a cortes de energía, nuestro departamento de servicios de alimentos enfrenta una escasez crucial y muchos de nuestros campus están actualmente bajo un aviso de hervir el agua de los proveedores de agua.

Nuestros equipos de mantenimiento continúan inspeccionando las instalaciones y ya se están realizando trabajos de limpieza y reparación de daños. Dados todos estos desafíos, tomaremos una decisión a última hora del sábado sobre si las operaciones del campus serán posibles la próxima semana. Queremos asegurarles a todos nuestros estudiantes y personal que su seguridad es nuestra máxima prioridad al realizar estas evaluaciones. Entendemos que estos han sido días abrumadores para la comunidad y queremos asegurarles a nuestros estudiantes que se les dará tiempo y gracia para las tareas y exámenes cuando reanudemos las clases. Los estudiantes tendrán tiempo adicional para las tareas que vencen esta o la próxima semana y cualquier examen programado para la próxima semana se pospondrá hasta no antes del jueves 25 de febrero.

A lo largo de este año escolar, impredecible y desafiante, nuestra comunidad, miembros del personal, estudiantes y padres han estado a la altura de las circunstancias una y otra vez. Todos ustedes han demostrado flexibilidad, gracia y fuerza, y agradecemos su apoyo y trabajo en equipo más que nunca mientras enfrentamos estos desafíos juntos. Tengan paciencia mientras trabajamos durante el fin de semana para tomar las mejores decisiones posibles para nuestros estudiantes. Estamos comprometidos a comunicar las decisiones lo antes posible, así como a compartir información importante sobre recursos y ayuda disponible.
