The Round Rock ISD Partners in Education (PIE) Foundation raised $319,000, beating the previous year by $43,000, at its 19th annual Shining Stars Gala, held on Feb. 22, 2020.
The Gala is the Foundation’s most significant fundraising event of the year and proceeds are used to enrich, enhance and maximize the quality of education for all students in Round Rock ISD through scholarships, classroom grants, teacher of the year awards and more.
The Gala, themed “An Evening in Gotham City,” was supported in part by St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center as the Presenting Sponsor with a $30,000 donation, while Dell EMC, was the Gold Sponsor at $15,000. In addition to these sponsorships, Bartlett Cocke served as Silver Sponsor donating $10,000.
“The Partners in Education Foundation advocates for our students and are invaluable partners to Round Rock ISD,” said Superintendent Steve Flores, Ph.D. “The foundation believes in the power that public education has to transform lives. They work each day to bridge our community together to support the progress of all students and their futures.”
This year’s event was hosted at the Sheraton Austin Georgetown Hotel & Conference Center and included a silent auction and a live auction sponsored by Ascension Seton with a donation of $5,000. Guests enjoyed a variety of games and activities including dancing and a casino.
“The Foundation is so humbled by the response of our business partners in the community who together shared their dedication and support of Round Rock ISD and to our teachers and students with their generous donations,” said Marianne Reap, PIE Foundation executive director. “We were also very grateful to students all across the District that shared their superhero stories with us, along with Amy Grosso, newly hired Director of Behavioral Health.“
The next fundraising event is the Foundation’s annual Golf Tournament set for Monday, October 5, 2020, at Star Ranch Golf Course.
