As Round Rock ISD continues to closely monitor reports and information shared by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) about the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and maintain daily contact with Williamson County and Cities Health District and Texas Health and Human Services, we want to provide our families with guidance related to travel as Spring Break approaches.

The CDC is recommending avoiding all non-essential travel to China, Iran, Italy and South Korea and has placed restrictions on re-entry to the United States for individuals traveling from China, Iran, Italy and South Korea. Round Rock ISD encourages families to follow CDC guidelines regarding travel and avoid visiting these countries over Spring Break. Parents of students who do travel to one of these countries over Spring Break (or have plans to do so) should contact campus administration and plan to self-quarantine for 14 days after returning to the United States per the CDC’s guidelines. The self-quarantine days will be counted as excused absences.

Also note, some of our campuses have trips within the United States planned over Spring Break. At this time, the District is not canceling any scheduled trips but supports the decisions of parents who wish to cancel plans for their child(ren) to travel. Unfortunately, whether canceled by the District or not, no refunds are available for trips already planned for Spring Break. All of the public health officials we are consulting with are advising against canceling trips to areas not considered high risk by the CDC at this time. Currently, Travel Health Notices have only been issued for China, Iran, Italy and South Korea. According to the CDC, there is not an area in the United States at high risk for community transmission.

In order to keep our community informed on this ever-evolving situation, we have created a Coronavirus (COVID-19) webpage with current information about Round Rock ISD’s response and plans related to Coronavirus (COVID-19), and also links to helpful information.

We will update the webpage as needed. Be sure to download the District’s APP for the most convenient way to stay informed or visit the District’s website for news and information.

Thank you for partnering with us to help ensure the safety of each child in Round Rock ISD.
