The Lone Star State School Counseling Association (LSSCA) will recognize Round Rock ISD counselors for excellence at their 3rd Annual Lone Star State School Counselor Association Conference on Nov. 5 in Dallas.
Brandy Beasley from Cedar Ridge High School and Christine Vick from Chisholm Trail Middle School were named finalists for the State of Texas’ 2019 School Counselor of the Year. The LSSCA named Beasley and Vick as finalists for creating systemic change within the profession with their significant leadership, collaboration, and advocacy resulting in increased student success.
Claudia Ocampo from Brushy Creek Elementary School, Laurie Hulse from Wells Branch Elementary School, and Holly Browning from Westwood High School were named semi-finalists.
At the conference, Pearson Ranch Middle School counselors, Tamara Wahrer and Lesa Gonzalez, will present and receive a Silver Award for their school counselor comprehensive development model. The Silver Award-winning model features unique student opportunities such as Career Cafe and Self-Care Week. The award recognizes campuses for demonstrating outstanding comprehensive counseling programs driven through data, focused on goal completion, and aligned to the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model. In 2018, Wahrer and Gonzalez won a Bronze Award.
Congratulations, counselors!
