Penny Oates has been named the new principal of Callison Elementary School.

With more than 20 years of experience in education, Oates has most recently served Round Rock ISD as the Assistant Principal of Bluebonnet Elementary School since 2017. Prior to that, she was an instructional coach for the District. Oates moved to Texas five years ago from Ohio, where she taught both middle and elementary school grades and served as assistant principal at Hiltonia Middle School in Columbus, Ohio.

“I am honored to join the Callison Elementary community to continue its current work and to grow new opportunities for students,” Oates said. “Together we will build relationships, plan next steps, and take action to create high levels of learning for all. I am proud to serve both Callison and the greater Cedar Ridge Learning Community as a part of Round Rock ISD  family.”

Oates earned both a Master’s in Educational Administration and a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from The Ohio State University.

“Penny Oates is a proven leader who is highly skilled at engaging stakeholders in building a positive learning environment for students,”  Superintendent Steve Flores, Ph.D. said. “She is focused on collaboration and creating a shared vision for success and I am confident Callison Elementary will thrive under her leadership.”
