Members of the Citizens Bond Committee (CBC) met April 30 at Hernandez Middle School to continue their discussions of the project lists that will help guide their work of assessing potential items for a future Bond.
After a quick review of the upcoming CBC meeting schedule, the CBC broke out into their respective subcommittees to further discuss project lists. The Districtwide subcommittee focused on interpreting the project list and assessing the level of priority that should be placed on each item. Members also reviewed the environmental project list to determine if any related projects should be considered for inclusion on the recommended bond proposal.
The Districtwide subcommittee also discussed potential projects related to fine arts, safety and security and athletics, with focuses on updates to safety features at campuses, athletic facilities and fine arts facilities at high school campuses for learning community use.
The Capital Renewal and Replacement subcommittee focused on ranking campus needs related to HVAC systems, roofing and additional items. The subcommittee reviewed campus needs in alphabetical order and was able to get through campuses starting with the letters A through C.
The Growth subcommittee focused on the highest areas of needs for elementary, middle and high school. Areas discussed included: the need and sustainability for portable usage; the need for a new elementary campus and high school; and how needs change from each Bond cycle.
Committee members will continue to meet to discuss items and conclude if they should be placed on the final recommendation list. Once created, the CBC will present their recommendation to the Board of Trustees in early August.
The next meeting is scheduled for May 16 at Brushy Creek Elementary School, 3800 Stonebridge Drive in Round Rock. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. with an optional tour of the campus taking place at 5:30 p.m.
