At 11 a.m. the Round Rock Empty Bowls Festival — a service learning project – will welcome guests into the cafeteria for its eighth year of bringing awareness to hunger in the greater Round Rock area.
Districtwide students create one-of-a-kind ceramic bowls available to purchase for a suggested $10.00 donation. Purchase of a bowl includes a lunch meal of soup, bread, and water or lemonade. The modest meal represents the reality of hunger experienced in our community and community at large.
Festival guests will also enjoy wheel-throwing demonstrations, a silent auction and student entertainment.
Proceeds from the Empty Bowl Festival go to feed the hungry in our community via the Round Rock Area Serving Center. The Serving Center has been operating a food pantry for 30 years and serves over 1,000 families every month.
