Round Rock High School principal Natalie Nichols has been named Area Superintendent of Stony Point Learning Community.
Nichols has 16 years of experience in education and has served as the principal of Round Rock High School since 2011. Prior to her principalship she held positions as assistant principal and campus instructional specialist.
“It’s an honor to serve the Stony Point Learning Community as Area Superintendent. I look forward to working with the entire learning community to make a positive impact in our schools,” Nichols said. “I believe that we are one family in Round Rock ISD and I am excited to work with our schools to enhance the teaching and learning that takes place each day while supporting our students socially and emotionally.”
Nichols holds both her bachelors and masters degrees in educational administration from Tarleton State University.
“Natalie is an outstanding educational leader with an excellent reputation for building positive relationships with her students, staff and community,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steve Flores said. “We have no doubt that she will continue to great things on behalf of the Stony Point learning community.”
Round Rock High School Associate Principal Jayson Jernt will serve as the school’s interim principal until a permanent replacement is named.
Nichols transition to Area Superintendent of Stony Point Learning Community comes after the announcement by Dr. Flores that the District will restructure to an area superintendent of learning community organizational model. The model provides each feeder pattern an assigned administrative leader for support and ensure that all campuses are equally served.
The restructuring included the transition of Executive Director of Elementary Schools Carla Amacher, Executive Director of Secondary Schools Becky Donald, and Executive Director of Educational Support John Yonker to Area Superintendent of Learning Community positions overseeing the Round Rock, Westwood and McNeil high school learning communities. Yonker will serve McNeil, Donald will serve Westwood and Amacher will serve the Round Rock learning community.
The restructure came after administrative discussion and community feedback on how the District can further enhance campus support, build stronger relationships within learning communities and reduce overall costs. With the restructuring of current leadership positions, the transition to the area superintendent of learning community model was implemented with minimal additional financial impact through realignment of staffing positions.
The Area Superintendent of Learning Community team will serve under Senior Chief of Schools and Innovation Dr. Daniel Presley.
