C.D. Fulkes Middle School principal Dr. Nancy Guerrero has been named Area Superintendent of Cedar Ridge Learning Community.
Dr. Guerrero has 22 years of experience in education and has served as the principal of C.D. Fulkes Middle School since 2006. Prior to her principalship she served as an assistant principal in RRISD, and a Language Arts teacher in Round Rock ISD, Austin ISD and Georgetown ISD.
“I am excited to continue my leadership journey and serve the students, staff, and parents across the Cedar Ridge High School Learning Community,” Dr. Guerrero said. “This District has been a part of my family for the past 21 years, and we have a dedicated team of educators ready to meet the needs of our students. I look forward to working with campuses to further create a culture of collaboration and success for all students.”
A graduate of Texas A&M University, Guerrero has her Ph.D. in educational administration, a master’s of education from Texas State University and a bachelors of arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
“Dr. Guerrero will provide outstanding leadership support to the Cedar Ridge Learning Community,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steve Flores said. “She is an advocate for all students and will serve as a champion for success at all grade levels.”
C.D. Fulkes Assistant Principal Laura Ihonvbere will serve as interim principal until a permanent replacement is named.
Guerrero’s transition to Area Superintendent of Cedar Ridge Learning Community comes after the announcement by Dr. Steve Flores that the District will restructure to an area superintendent of learning community organizational model. The model provides each feeder pattern to have an assigned administrative leader for support and ensure that all campuses are equally served.
The restructuring included the transition of Executive Director of Elementary Schools Carla Amacher, Executive Director of Secondary Schools Becky Donald, and Executive Director of Educational Support John Yonker to Area Superintendent of Learning Community positions overseeing the Round Rock, Westwood and McNeil high school learning communities. Yonker will serve McNeil, Donald will serve Westwood and Amacher will serve the Round Rock learning community.
The restructure came after administrative discussion and community feedback on how the District can further enhance campus support, build stronger relationships within learning communities and reduce overall costs. With the restructuring of current leadership positions, the transition to the area superintendent of learning community model was implemented with minimal additional financial impact through realignment of staffing positions.
The Area Superintendent of Learning Community team will serve under Senior Chief of Schools and Innovation Dr. Daniel Presley.
