The results of votes cast by incoming Pearson Ranch Middle School students has declared the school’s mascot the “Rattler” with spirit colors of indigo and silver.

Pearson Ranch Principal Kim Winters visited Cedar Valley, Deerpark, Grisham and Walsh middle schools; Anderson Mill, England, Sommer, Forest North and Purple Sage elementary schools to meet with students who are zoned to attend Pearson Ranch in the fall. In addition to sharing her vision for the school, Winters asked the students to select from four possible mascot options, the Rattlers, Rams, Renegades or Wranglers; and three color schemes.

After all the votes were tallied, and with just a 15 vote lead the Rattlers won out as the school mascot over the Rams. School athletic uniforms, campus decor and communications will feature the student selected school colors.

“I am proud to be a Rattler and genuinely would have been happy with whatever the students selected,” Winters said. “What’s important to me is that we’re creating the culture of Pearson Ranch together.”
