Round Rock ISD has named Edie Binns the new Director of Professional Development.
Binns has served as principal of Pond Springs Elementary School since 2008 and has previously held the position of assistant principal at Forest North Elementary School for three years. Prior to administrative roles, Binns taught fourth and fifth grades at Jollyville and Forest North elementary schools. She has 17 years of education experience.
“I have a passion for teacher growth and development and I’m excited to use my knowledge and experience as a leader to serve Round Rock ISD,” Binns said. “As educators, we must be lifelong learners. I’m eager to step into this new role with a mission to serve my fellow educators as we continue learning together.”
During her time as Pond Springs principal, Binns collaborated with staff to implement a Schoolwide Enrichment Model; design an innovative classroom as part of a Round Rock ISD Innovative Schools Grant; and develop a schedule with the campus intervention team to serve students without taking them out of core classes.
A graduate of Trinity University, Binns earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities and continued her education, earning a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Texas State University. Binns is a graduate of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development Curriculum Leadership Academy and was recognized as a Texas PTA Outstanding Educator Finalist in 2013.
As Director of Professional Development, Binns will design and deliver training opportunities for District staff and continue the trend of innovative leadership within Round Rock ISD.
“Edie Binns is an outstanding leader who will challenge educators across Round Rock ISD to think outside the box and continually search for the best ways to serve our students,” said Mandy Estes, chief of teaching and learning. “It’s essential for our educators to have access to innovative training opportunities. I believe Ms. Binns is the best person to lead our professional development team as we continue to serve as the Destination District for Public Schools.”
