The Little Geniuses after-school class introduces elementary school students to science through hands-on activities hosted by Nutty Scientists.

Tanya Maclin, Austin’s branch of Nutty Scientists vice president, said students engage in fun and educational activities, designed to reinforce the students’ understanding of the scientific theories.

“Nutty Scientists hopes children’s interest in science is increased after participating in our program,” Maclin said. “We want children to experience excitement during the after-school activities and develop a desire for STEM-related activities.”

The Session I classes at Blackland Prairie, Caraway, Double File Trail, England, Forest Creek, Laurel Mountain, Live Oak, and Purple Sage are ongoing and will continue through Oct. 26. Session II will begin Oct. 21 until Dec. 16, 2015.
