Stony Point High School 2009 graduate Bralon Taplin recently competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, making it to the finals in the Olympic 400 Meter track event.

Taplin finished in seventh place with a time of 44.45 seconds at the Olympic Stadium where he competed on Aug. 14. Taplin qualified for the Olympics after placing fourth at the World Indoor Championships, held in Portland during March.

“Bralon was a great kid who had a desire to run,” Stony Point Principal Anthony Watson, said. “Once he began to excel on the track, he dedicated himself to excellence. He was a 400 meter State Champion and now a 2016 Olympian. We are proud of him — he truly is a Tiger for life!”

Taplin currently attends Texas A&M University. During his time in Round Rock ISD, Taplin attended Caldwell Heights Elementary School, Hopewell Middle School and Stony Point.
