When Joe Lee Johnson Elementary STEAM Academy opened its doors for the first time on Aug. 23, staff welcomed 479 students, K through fifth grade.
Joe Lee Johnson Elementary STEAM Academy is Round Rock ISD’s newest and 34th elementary school; it serves the Wells Branch community, located at 2800 Sauls Drive, Austin.
Joe Lee Johnson Elementary STEAM Academy is the District’s first school designated as a STEAM academy, which means the instructional approach integrates a culture of inquiry and engagement through science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics.
Designed for 21st century learning, the school is over 118,000 square feet with 48 classrooms, flexible and collaborative learning spaces and an appointed Library of the Future.
