Round Rock ISD received a $10,000 grant from the Applied Materials Foundation. The grant will fund professional development called “Writing in Science in Action.” All elementary teachers and those involved with the ASPIRE after-school program can participate in this training conducted by Betsy Rupp Fulwiler. Fulwiler is a veteran science curriculum consultant who started the nationally known Expositor Writing and Science Notebooks Program in Seattle Public Schools.

Round Rock ISD Discretionary Grant Coordinator Carolyn Austin said the program was created to help develop students’ skills as writers and scientific thinkers.
