Scores for Round Rock ISD students taking the ACT in 2012-2013 exceeded the state average, according to a report released by ACT officials. The average composite score of Round Rock ISD students was 23.7, compared to the state average of 20.9. The number of district students taking this year’s test increased from 1,143 last year to 1,170 this year. The percentage of students meeting the college ready standard increased from 45 percent to 46 percent.

By subject the 2012-2013 college ready percentages for Round Rock ISD students are:

  • ACT English (college English composition) – 78 percent
  • ACT math (college Algebra) – 68 percent
  • ACT reading (college social science) – 60 percent
  • ACT biology (college biology) – 58 percent

The college readiness benchmark scores for each test are:

  • ACT English – 18
  • ACT math – 22
  • ACT reading – 22
  • ACT biology – 23

A benchmark score is the minimum score needed on each ACT subject area test to indicate either a 50 percent chance of students making a B or higher or a 75 percent chance of obtaining a C or higher in the corresponding credit-bearing college courses. For the Class of 2013, the number of ACT test takers in Texas totaled 109,841.
