Trustees approve funds to build ECHS and begin design phase of Stony Point Cafeteria

Round Rock ISD’s Board of Trustees voted Thursday to approve funds for the construction of a permanent Early College High School (ECHS) structure on the Austin Community College (ACC) site, and to give permission to the District to begin designing plans for the expansion of the Stony Point High School cafeteria. Both campuses and projects were included as part of the voter-approved Bond 2018.

Round Rock High School student turns passion into profit

Round Rock High School student Raymond Hinojosa loves being in the kitchen. He takes part in culinary classes at Round Rock High School as well as business classes. With the help of fellow students, a partnership has been formed between the two programs where Raymond's cookies are being sold in the Round Rock High School Co-op. All profits are split between the culinary and business programs at the high school.

Round Rock ISD middle schools awarded $30,000 in engineering grants

. Fulkes, Deerpark, and Hernandez middle schools received a $10,000 Project Lead the Way (PLTW) grant to expand their pre-engineering programs. The awarded grants will fund expanded student access and early career exposure to the engineering field, introduce new course modules, bolster educator training, purchase equipment, and increase field trip opportunities.

Dr. Laura Carlin-Gonzalez has been named Round Rock ISD's executive director of teaching and learning, where she will provide leadership and oversight for the District’s teaching and learning programs, including curriculum and assessment, library services, professional development, and instructional technology.
