For the second year in a row the AP Physics class at McNeil High School took to the water with their cardboard boats and knowledge of physics hoping to stay afloat and win best in class.
Survey reveals students miss Teacher/Classmate interactions
More than 33,000 Round Rock ISD parents, guardians, students, and staff completed a survey responding to questions about challenges and successes of at-home learning during the COVID-19 school closures. Collectively, survey groups cited lack of teacher/classmate/colleague interaction and collaboration as the biggest challenge of at-home learning.
Dr. Steve Flores named 2020 Texas PTA Superintendent of the Year
Selected from nominees across the state, Round Rock ISD Superintendent Steve Flores, Ph.D., has been named the 2020 Texas Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Superintendent of the Year. Dr. Flores was selected for the honor as a result of his displayed commitment to the students and schools of Round Rock ISD and dedication to building a strong relationship with the PTA.
Six Round Rock ISD campuses named Project Lead The Way Distinguished Schools
Six Round Rock ISD campuses were named Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Distinguished Schools for the 2019 - 2020 school year. Campuses that received this recognition include Joe Lee Johnson and Fern Bluff elementary schools and Stony Point, Westwood, Round Rock and McNeil high schools. This year, only 21 elementary schools and 14 high schools received this distinction in the state of Texas. Round Rock ISD had the only campuses in Central Texas to earn this distinction.
Trellis Company donates $10,000 to meet immediate needs due to COVID-19
Trellis donated $10,000 to the District to help meet the immediate needs of students and families caused by COVID-19. The donation provided students in the Families in Transition (FiT) program with emergency kits, hygiene items, air beds, blankets, H-E-B gift cards, and school supplies.

Superintendent Update: Plans for Summer and Fall
Turning a massive, traditional education system “on a dime,” so to speak, into a virtual environment has been challenging and complicated, particularly as we worked to ensure all of our students had access to the tools they needed to continue learning. There are no words to adequately express my gratitude for your patience and support and to our dedicated educators, administrators and operations staff who worked day and night to support students.We are all ready to turn the page on 2019-2020, but we also know we still face an uncertain future. With that in mind, I want to share with you our plans for the summer and how we are working to design the 2020-2021 school year.
