Middle School Robotics has become a reality for several middle schools throughout Round Rock ISD this year, and students are really enjoying the new club. They will be competing against each other for the first time in an In-District middle school competition this weekend.

As technology continues to show up in the classroom, even our youngest students are getting a taste of it. Pre-K robotics was introduced this year in Round Rock ISD, with students as young as four learning the beginning stages of coding.
The Leadership Lab is an opportunity for Education in Training students to get real-life experience leading summer camps for younger students. This includes developing the curriculum, planning, and leading the classroom daily.
Eighth-graders Arya Kashyap, Siddharth Megharaj, Soham Pradhan, Sritam Pradhan, and Suved Naidu from Cedar Valley Middle School won the finalist award at the FIRST® LEGO® League World Festival in Houston, Texas.

Round Rock ISD adult enrichment classes are an excellent way to spend time with a friend, discover a new interest, or meet people who enjoy similar activities.
Enrichment camps kicked off this week in Round Rock ISD. Students can explore sports, cooking, coding, music and much more throughout the week.
During the Robotics program elementary school students will get experience with coding, building and maneuvering the robots through numerous obstacles and assignments all while working as a team and problem solving along the way.
In its second year as a campus club and first year as a competitive team, Ridgeview Middle School’s Esports team currently ranks fourth in its league. Fourth place qualifies the team to compete in the Spring playoffs. Esports is short for electronic sports, which is competitive, organized video gaming. The team’s 30 members, including sixth, seventh, and eighth grades, compete nationally in organized gameplay tournaments against other students their age.
The Jollyville Elementary School fifth-grade robotics team known as Jaguar Pride took first-place in Robot Design at the First Lego League Robotics Competition. Jaguar Pride bested 29 other teams comprised of students from fourth to eight-grade. The team’s first-place win qualifies them to advance to the Regional Competition in April.
Robotics will debut in February at Anderson Mill, Berkman, Blackland Prairie, Bluebonnet, Brushy Creek, Callison, Canyon Creek, Caraway, Deep Wood, Double File Trail, England, Joe Lee Johnson, Jollyville, Laurel Mountain, Live Oak, Old Town, Pond Springs, Redbud, Robertson, Sommer, Spicewood, Teravista, Voigt and Wells Branch elementary schools.
The event will be hosted on Saturday, Feb. 1 in the Walsh Middle School cafeteria from noon to 2 p.m. and will feature local and regional academic and fine arts vendors showcasing summer programs. Vendors will share information on pricing and program dates. Interactive activities will be available for students at some vendor tables. Drawings will also occur throughout the day with prizes including camp vouchers.
