Thanks to the partnership with the YMCA, six Round Rock ISD elementary schools now have Esports labs. Students can sign up for teams and collaborate on games like Minecraft and Rocket League, all while building communication and learning how to work with others to accomplish a goal.

Westwood High School students and staff are celebrating the completion of the school’s new two-story wing with math classrooms and an art studio. These upgrades include a second wing that houses a new band hall, orchestra and choir rooms, and two large dance studios. The major campus upgrades were made possible through the 2018 Voter Approved Bond.

Several Round Rock ISD high schools offer a law enforcement career path and forensic science as part of the curriculum. Students not on the path can also sign up for forensic science as a science elective. During this class students learn about everything from fingerprints to blood spatter patterns, to performing autopsies to determine cause of death. The Spirit Exchange Program is new to Round Rock ISD this year. The program brings teachers from all over the world into the classroom across the District. Program participants can teach in the U.S. for up to three years before retiring to their home countries, all while interacting with their classroom back home during each school week.
