The Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously last night to extend the contract for Superintendent Hafedh Azaiez through June 30, 2028.

The board also unanimously approved a bonus payment to the superintendent of $21,333, an amount determined by data related to student achievement. Azaiez’s contract requires a bonus if specific targets are met.

Board Pres. Tiffanie N. Harrison thanked Azaiez for his collaboration throughout the evaluation process.

“Our decision to extend your contract is a vote of confidence in your leadership,” Harrison told Azaiez during the meeting. “We’re just very grateful as a board for you and your service to Round Rock ISD.”

Azaiez thanked the board and said he’s eager to move forward with greater collaboration.

“I’m proud of the work we’ve done together to keep our students always at the center of everything we do and to make decisions in their best interest,” Azaiez said. “I’m excited about the future, Pres. Harrison, because I think we have a lot more that we can offer our students, our parents, our community, and our teachers and staff… More opportunities, more choices—meeting every student’s needs—and I think that will keep our district always a destination district.”

Harrison acknowledged that there are areas that could be improved and said she and the board are excited to continue their work with Azaiez and his team.

“Some of the obstacles we’ve faced have been moved out of the way … It feels like a fresh start and a new beginning. I’m excited to see what we will do together and what we will accomplish in service of each and every student in Round Rock ISD,” she said.

Given the financial constraints under which the district is operating, the board did not opt to increase the superintendent’s base salary of $350,000, which has remained unchanged since 2021.

Azaiez’s official contract is available online. Last night’s amendments to the contract will be available online by mid-February.
