Dear Round Rock ISD community,

This season of gratitude feels like the perfect time to express how much you’re appreciated. The contributions from our families, staff, business partners, and volunteers truly make a difference in our schools, and we are deeply thankful.

The recent voter approval of Round Rock ISD Bond Propositions A, B, and C, along with the election of three trustees serves as a reminder of our community’s shared commitment to elevating education. Congratulations to Trustee Chuy Zárate, who was re-elected, and a warm welcome to our newly elected trustees Melissa Ross and Michael Wei, who will be sworn in at the Thursday, Nov. 21, Regular Board meeting.

Not all school districts are as fortunate to receive this level of community backing. With 38 bond elections on the Nov. 5 ballot, it was a challenging day for Texas public schools—fewer than half of all bond propositions, totaling over $3.24 billion, were approved statewide. My heartfelt thank you goes out to our community and our trustees for rallying behind our students, teachers and schools.

In this season of thankfulness, we also honor our veterans. Their dedication and sacrifices have safeguarded the freedoms we enjoy today. Our schools have a long tradition of celebrating the courageous individuals—staff, family members, and neighbors—who serve and have served by organizing special events and ceremonies. Thank you to each veteran for your invaluable contributions to our nation and for being role models of strength and integrity.

After next week, staff and students will be on a well-deserved Fall Break. Celebrating, creating traditions, and practicing gratitude are unique for each person. Many celebrate by gathering family and friends together on another day, month, or even under another name than Thanksgiving.

With my own family, we enjoy Thanksgiving with grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. And we’ve incorporated some of our favorite foods from our families and extended families’ cultures. If you’re interested in trying Tunisian food, I highly recommend two of my favorites, couscous and brik.

Thank you for giving your best to our students. Our accomplishments are a direct outcome of your support. It all starts with us, and together, let’s keep reaching for greatness and endeavor to leave a lasting, positive imprint on the world.

Respectfully,

Dr. Azaiez
