¡Feliz Mes Nacional de la Herencia Hispana! Through October 15, it’s National Hispanic Heritage Month, a time dedicated to honoring the invaluable contributions of individuals whose roots trace back to Spain, Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean.

With nearly one-third of our students identifying as Latino, our schools are enriched with a vibrant array of cultures, traditions, and identities. We celebrate the diversity and excellence that Latino students and families bring to our schools.

Our school communities—already vibrant and diverse—are excited to welcome visiting international educators from Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Ghana, Mexico, the Philippines, and Spain. As an educator and American immigrant, I can personally attest to the transformative effects of our visiting international teachers.

These 34 certified educators bring rich experiences to their teaching in our elementary, bilingual, and special education classrooms, and our students and families benefit from their unique insights. You can learn more about our visiting international teachers’ program in an episode of KXAN’s Studio 512.

As we recognize the contributions of our visiting international educators and the enriching experiences they bring to our classrooms, it’s also important to look ahead to the future of our district.

On Tuesday, Nov. 5, voters will consider four bond propositions that provide upgrades and address needs throughout the district. The last day to register to vote in the Nov. 5 election is Monday, Oct. 7. Early voting starts Monday, Oct. 21, and runs through Friday, Nov. 1. This is Round Rock ISD’s first bond election in six years and would allow the district to replace instructional technology, HVAC, and other systems that are nearing the end of their useful lives. It also allows the district to build classroom additions; upgrade safety and security systems and equipment; install fencing; upgrade or install digital marquees; replace fine arts uniforms and instruments; purchase student furniture, new buses, robotics equipment, and tools; and purchase and equip a new facility dedicated to expanding Career and Technical Education programs for all students.

Being an informed voter is equally as important as voting itself. The League of Women’s Voters of Texas provides links to a voter’s guide. For a list of school board candidates running in the Nov. 5 general election, visit the Board of Trustees page on the District website.

You can learn more about the bond on our website or join us at a bond information session:
