Blackland Prairie Elementary School has achieved recertification for reaching Milestone #3 as a Leader in Me School. This prestigious recognition underscores its commitment to student leadership and effective practices. The Lighthouse Recertification, valid for two years, was awarded following a comprehensive review by the Lighthouse Review Team.

The review team commended Blackland Prairie for several noteworthy initiatives that exemplify its commitment to fostering student leadership. Notable celebrations include the annual Senior Walk event, which honors high school seniors who previously attended the school and recognizes students who complete the Habit 7 family challenge. The school has also worked to empower students to set their own Wildly Important Goals (WIGs) and encouraged them to utilize data in their Leadership Portfolios to identify their strengths and areas for improvement.

Measurable outcomes from the 2023-24 school year highlighted Blackland Prairie’s effectiveness. Leadership saw a 5% increase in the MRA survey, while the overall culture score reached 82. Academically, the school surpassed its goal of achieving 80% math computation fluency, hitting an impressive 94%. These achievements are a testament to the school’s dedication and the students’ hard work.
