Dear Round Rock ISD community,

Helping students reach their goals—whether it’s getting into their dream college, landing their ideal career, or serving in the military—starts with us. We’re focused on making sure they’re ready for their next path toward future readiness.

Our Class of 2024 achieved a 97% graduation rate, with 90% demonstrating being college, career, or military-ready. We aim to raise student future readiness to 94% by August 2026.

With high standards, strong support from families and the community, and dedicated teachers, we create a space where our students can thrive and be their best.

Each Spring, our middle and high school students choose their courses for their next school year. To help them make informed decisions, during the Fall, we focus on providing families with a range of info sessions that highlight their opportunities—like earning free college credits or even an associate degree alongside their high school diploma.

While our secondary students explore pathways to future-readiness, our elementary students focus on building essential literacy and numeracy skills. Starting in PreK and continuing through third grade, we are dedicated to ensuring students perform at or above grade level. In 2023, 76% of kindergarteners were reading at or above grade level—a 5% increase that brings us closer to our board goal of 80% by 2026.

Investing in our early learners builds a strong foundation for their long-term success, ensuring they’re ready to excel for years to come and reach their full potential.

September is Deaf Awareness Month – highlighting the importance of promoting understanding, inclusion, and accessibility for individuals who are deaf. American Sign Language (ASL) is a vital part of deaf culture, offering a rich, visual means of communication. Our district offers ASL classes as an elective for all students at the high school level through our World Language Programs. You can meet our Round Rock High School ASL teachers in this short video.

We’re also proud to be the home of the internationally recognized Capital Area Regional Day School Program for the Deaf, which supports over 275 deaf and hard-of-hearing students across 20 school districts in Central Texas. These students receive specialized support from certified teachers of the deaf.

Last night, the Board of Trustees was thrilled to have several students from the RDSPD at McNeil High School lead the pledges in ASL at our board meeting.

As we move through the school year, we continue to embrace the unique potential in each of our students and provide them with the resources, opportunities, and support they need to succeed.

Thank you for choosing Round Rock ISD. I truly appreciate your support of our schools and am excited about the bright future ahead for our students.

Respectfully,

Dr. Azaiez
