Dr. Reynaldo Garcia has been named the new principal of Deerpark Middle School.

Garcia is no stranger to Round Rock ISD. He has served as the interim principal of Deerpark Middle School since the beginning of the school year and was an assistant principal with the district from 1994 to 2003, with a total of 33 years of experience in education. During that time, Garcia has served as a school turnaround consultant, director, and executive director for middle schools, as well as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal in Austin, Round Rock, Seguin, and Harlingen ISDs.

“My goal is to continue facilitating a learning environment where students, teachers, and parents feel welcome and safe,” Garcia said. “I hope that every student here at Deerpark is prepared, not only for the next grade but throughout their next phase of life.”

Dr. Mya Mercer, Area Superintendent of the McNeil Learning Community, is thrilled to have Garcia officially lead the Deerpark Ranger Community.

“Not only does he bring a wealth of knowledge and middle school leadership experience, he has also exemplified a tireless commitment to serving our students, staff, and families,” she said. “I am confident he will continue leading with a visionary eye toward inclusion, growth, and achievement for all students!”

Garcia earned his Doctorate of Education from the University of Texas at Austin and his Master of Science in Educational Administration from Stephen F. Austin University.

Garcia’s first day as principal at Deerpark Middle School was September 18.
