The Canyon Vista Middle School Symphony Orchestra has been named the Honor Full Orchestra for 2025 through the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA). This recognition is one of the highest honors a music group can receive in the state of Texas, similar to winning a state championship.

“Mr. Hagy, Mrs. Hornbake, Mrs. Click, and myself are so proud of the students for their hard work, dedication, and perseverance. This honor was so well-deserved, and we can’t wait to get started with what promises to be a very memorable school year,” said Mr. Whatley, Orchestra Director of Canyon Vista.

Earlier this year, area bands submitted recordings hoping to beat out other schools in a statewide multi-level process. The goal was to be named a TMEA Honor Band or Honor Orchestra. Out of the groups in the district that submitted entries, four earned placement and were named Finalists and Semi-Finalists.

Awards earned included:

The Canyon Vista Full Orchestra will represent the district and perform at the TMEA Convention next February (2025) in front of all band and orchestra directors in the state.

Our congratulations also extend to the leaders of these performing arts groups, Ragan Whatley, Jay Hagy, Emily Hornbake at Canyon Vista Middle School, Mason England at Grisham Middle School, Nicole Kemp at Deerpark Middle School, and Arminda Velasquez at Cedar Ridge High School.
