The Texas Music Educators Association has named Grisham Middle School Principal Kyla Mills as one of the recipients of the TMEA Distinguished Administrator Award.
Mills was nominated by her campus director of bands, Mason England, who described her as “a visionary for our school’s culture.”
“She has gone above and beyond to support our band program and fine arts team,” said England. “Being an administrator can be very challenging, but Mrs. Mills always makes time for her staff on campus.”
The TMEA uses this award to recognize upper-level school administrators throughout the state who have been instrumental in preserving quality music education programs on their campuses and in their districts.
Mills said being named as a TMEA Distinguished Administrator is a huge honor.
“Round Rock ISD and our Grisham staff both encourage students to be well-rounded,” she said. “The sense of belonging and community that fine arts brings to students helps create a place where students can thrive. Supporting our staff in creating this atmosphere for students is important, as they are working hard to make this happen for students.”
Mills will be formally recognized at Grisham’s Spring Concert later this school year.
