Early College High School (ECHS) is a Round Rock ISD public school that allows students to earn a diploma AND up to 60 transferable college credit hours, from Austin Community College (ACC), in four years at NO COST to the family. Tuition, textbooks, and transportation* are included.
Students attending ECHS get a unique high school experience focused on academics with a rigorous course of study. Students are active in leading clubs and activities; UIL sports and fine arts are not offered.
Families of interested eighth-graders can attend any session and visit the Early College High School enrollment website to watch videos and read more about the program. Ninth-grade students who are interested in transferring from their zoned high school should make an appointment with their school counselor.
Students and their families interested in becoming incoming freshmen at Round Rock ISD’s Early College High School are encouraged to attend a family information session.

To support students through their collegiate journey, each graduating class is capped at 125 students. Students are encouraged to declare interest in ECHS early to reserve their spot. If more than 125 qualified students apply, a lottery process will be used to determine placement. Students not placed through the lottery will be placed on a waiting list.

*Students are eligible for transportation services if they reside more than two miles from the ECHS campus. ECHS is classified as a special program. Students who use District transportation to and from ECHS may experience a more than 30-minute bus ride, multiple stops, and have their designated bus stop be located more than 1/2 mile from their residence.
