The Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees accepted Steve Math’s resignation and discussed the next steps on how to fill his seat during a called meeting on July 13.
Trustee Math announced his plans to resign during the Board’s Regular Meeting on June 18 after serving as a Trustee since 2017. During the meeting, he cited new work obligations and an increased time commitment to contributing to his decision to resign.
His resignation officially takes effect on Nov. 2, 2020.
“It has been a wonderful experience to work with the Board of Trustees and District leadership to serve the students, staff, and Round Rock ISD community,” Math said. “I know this Board will continue to work in partnership with the District and community to deliver a quality educational environment to our more than 51,000 students and 7,000 employees.”
Math, who serves in Place 6, is serving his second term on the Board, which expires in November 2022. During his service, he has been in leadership roles and served as the Board Vice President. During the action item regarding Math’s resignation, the Board discussed filling the vacancy, which they may do by holding a special election on Nov. 3, 2020. The special election for Place 6 would be in addition to the anticipated Trustee elections for Places 1,2, and 7, currently held by Nikki Gonzales, Charles “Chad” Chadwell, and Mason Moses, respectively.
In anticipation of the special election, information and applications for those interested in running for the Place 6 position can be found on the Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees website starting on July 15.
