Sponsored by a grant awarded through the Round Rock ISD Fine Arts Department, each Monday afternoon the England Elementary School Art Club walks to the Brookdale Senior Living Center to share their time with residents creating Ageless Art.
Students in fourth and fifth grade spend their time with residents sharing artistic techniques and concepts they learn through the District’s fine arts curriculum.
“Ageless Art is a service learning project designed to join elementary students and the elderly in our community through art,” England Art Teacher Suzanne West said. “Together, students will explore painting, watercolor, collage and sculpture with elderly members of our community. The life experiences and wisdom of the residents are invaluable to students; they have a wealth of knowledge and talent to share.”
The Ageless Art community outreach project realizes District goals of implementing innovative teaching and learning models and fostering new partnerships with businesses and the community.
