The Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees has accepted the District’s Citizens Bond Committee (CBC) recommendation for a timeline for a Bond in November 2018 and requested the committee bring back a potential Bond proposal.
“As a committee, we have come together to determine the first step in a series of efforts to do what is best for our kids in Round Rock ISD,” CBC Chair Kris Parker told Trustees at a meeting on Thursday evening. “Our kids will continue to remain at the top of our minds as we begin the next stage of our Citizen Bond Committee process, and we are up for the challenge to put recommendations together that meet the needs of our kids this year and for many years to come.”
With the request, the CBC will now be working through the spring and summer and come back to the Board at the beginning of August with a proposed Bond package. Upon presentation, it will be up to the Board whether to call for an election and to determine the final project list.
“We are thankful for the input of our community and Citizens Bond Committee as we work together to determine the best course of action for our students and District,” Board President Diane M. Cox said. “The next phase of their charge will continue to be putting our students’ needs at the forefront as they determine potential projects and we look forward to reviewing their collaborative work. We encourage anyone interested in attending to get involved in the process.”
Starting the new phase of the process, the CBC will be holding their next meeting on April 24, 2018. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the McNeil High School Cafeteria located at, 5720 McNeil Drive in Austin, with a tour of the campus offered from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
To develop the recommendation, the CBC held four meetings, starting in March, to determine the collective recommendation for a Bond timeline. All agendas, minutes and presentations given to CBC members during meetings can be found on the CBC Google Drive and the CBC Website.
Community members still interested in participating are encouraged to email the CBC to be placed on the CBC participant list.
