Eight Westwood High School seniors achieved a perfect score of 36 on the ACT during the June and September administration of the assessment.
Apoorva Chintala, Kavyaa Choudhary, Ritik Goyal, Arjun Jain, Shreyas Konana, Sanjana Bettadpur, David Hsieh and Iris Kim are among the top scoring group.
“This is an outstanding accomplishment for these students, their families, Round Rock ISD and Westwood,” said Mario Acosta, Westwood High School principal. “Their hard work has paid off and we look forward to seeing their future successes at Westwood and beyond.”
The consensus among the students was that their performance on the latest ACT test can be attributed to hard work, the teachers and International Baccalaureate (IB) program at Westwood.
“There are a lot of skills that you gain during the IB program that you are able to use to help guide you,” Apoorva said. “The reading comprehension, critical thinking and the grammar skills you develop in the program really make a difference when you’re interpreting data.”
