To kick off the 2017-2018 school year, over 6,000 District staff gathered as one family at the HEB Center in Cedar Park.
At the event, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steve Flores, Elementary Teacher of the Year Allie Duffy, Secondary Teacher of the Year Valerie Burleigh and motivational speaker and song writer Saul Paul spoke inspirationally about our District’s one purpose, its students.
“The start of every school year is symbolic of the hope and promise in every student,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steve Flores. “This year’s Kick-Off event brought parents, students, schools, and community together as ONE family. Together, we inspire and motivate each other to be better and do better for each other and all Round Rock ISD students.”
Kick-off was supported in part by Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union as a proud presenting partner, while A+ Federal Credit Union, Anytime Fitness, Baylor Scott & White Health, St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center and Round Rock ISD Partners in Education Foundation served as 1st level advocates.
“The generosity of the businesses within the Round Rock ISD community is unmatched,” said Marianne Reap, Round Rock ISD PIE Foundation executive director. “With every sponsorship our partners make they invest in our teachers and students, reaffirming our communities commitment to education.”
The PIE Foundation, also a sponsor, awarded educator grants totaling $110,820 at the Kick-Off event. Grants awarded will fund 54 projects, spanning 45 campuses and departments, which will impact more than 45,000 students.
