Allie Duffy named Region 13 Teacher of the Year

Round Rock ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year Allie Duffy has been named the Region 13 2018 Teacher of the Year.

Duffy, Joe Lee Johnson Elementary STEAM Academy first grade teacher, was named the 2018 Round Rock ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year in May. Duffy has been an educator for seven years, six of which have been served teaching first-grade students.

As an elementary teacher, Duffy said it’s important to have a great community of teachers that celebrate, love and sees the potential in every single child.

“Honestly, I was shocked when I found out,” said Duffy. “There are so many educators who are worthy of the honor.”

Region 13 hosts 60 school districts and spans 16 counties in the Central Texas area. Duffy will now advance to the Texas Teacher of the Year program, facilitated by the Texas Association of School Administrators.

“With 48,000 students strong in our District, it’s important to have and celebrate teachers like Ms. Duffy,” said Dr. Steve Flores, Superintendent of Schools. “As we continue to work as One Family, I know we’ll make this the best school year yet.”
