Round Rock ISD students across its secondary schools excelled in the 29th annual Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering state Math and Science Competition.
Among the several awarding winning students were Cedar Valley Middle School students Olivia Brown, Jessica Ding and Andrew Yin who used their creativity and won the engineering design challenge at TAME, hosted at the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics campus in Dallas.
Over 300 sixth through 12th grade students from TAME chapters across Texas qualified to attend by participating in regional competitions. Students took individual math and science tests and completed team engineering design challenges. The top five students earning the highest test scores received awards along with the top five teams in the engineering design challenge.
“This was a challenging competition because our students competed against others throughout the state and we’re very proud of our Round Rock ISD students who placed first through fifth,” said Cedar Valley TAME coach and regional coordinator Sonali Sur.
